Compare Different Laptop Computers

There are dozens of laptop manufacturers, and each one has a few dozen models or more. When you decide to buy a laptop, even if you are an experienced user, you may at first have trouble narrowing down the field and deciding what to buy. There are many choices of hardware that can be added, but there are some basic categories you can use to compare computers.
1. Look at the battery life. Laptop batteries can come with anywhere from three to 12 cells, and how long a cell will charge your laptop is different based on the hardware of the laptop. There should be a listing for how long the battery will last in terms of hours. If a six-cell will last three hours, an upgrade to a 12-cell will last twice as long on the same computer.

2. Measure the size of everything. You can get netbooks that are small and have a small screen, or a large-screen laptop. You should also consider the hard-drive size. Some netbooks only have a 10 or 20 gigabyte flash drives, and others will have hundreds of gigabytes. The size you want can help narrow things down significantly.

3. Consider the power. The process speed, the amount and speed of the RAM and the amount of cache on a chip determine the overall speed of a computer. More RAM is more important than faster RAM. More cache is more important than processor speed when the numbers are somewhat close. More processors, such as dual or quad core, are much better than single cores with higher speeds.toshiba battery
