How Do I Check the Charge on My HP Laptop Battery?

All Hewlett Packard laptops that were built in 2006 or later are equipped with Battery Check. This application is a component of HP Support Assistant, and its purpose is to keep laptop users informed about the status of their batteries. Using Battery Check takes the guesswork out of troubleshooting batteries. While this feature is helpful, you can still manually check the amount of charge that is left on your HP laptop, even if it is an older laptop.

Newer HP Laptops Supported by HP Battery Check

1.Plug your laptop into an outlet. In order for the Battery Check application to run properly, your laptop must be connected to the AC adapter.

2.Click on the "Start" menu button, which is located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. Select "All Programs" from the pop-up "Start" menu.

3.Click on "Hewlett-Packard, HP Battery Check."

4.Determine the hp pavilion dv6400 battery status by looking at the "Battery Check" application. This application tells you the remaining charge, total battery power remaining, battery health and storage capacity of the battery.

Older HP Laptops that Don't Support Battery Check

1.Unplug your laptop from the wall.

2.Use the touch pad or mouse to hover the cursor over the battery icon that appears in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

3.Wait until the amount of charge is displayed in a small pop-up window on top of the cursor. You will see the percentage of charge that is left, as well as the time left until the laptop powers down due to a low hp compaq 381374-001 battery.
